About this event

This group is for all carers and is an opportunity to talk about their caring role, to meet and chat with other carers, find out more about our services, and to access information and support from our Carer Wellbeing Workers.

We aim for this group meeting to give you a chance and the space to discuss caring issues currently impacting on you and to connect with others who share a common bond.

About your hosts: Maxine & Roger & Rosemary

Maxine has worked for Carers Support West Sussex for over 8 years. Originally a counsellor before joining the Community and Emotional Support Teams. Maxine has personal experience of being a carer and understands the challenges that caring can bring. She has supported many carers of people with a variety of long-term conditions. Maxine has successfully facilitated a number of support groups and has seen first-hand the benefits that carers experience when they come together and share their knowledge and feelings in a confidential and safe space.

Roger Fleet is a Carer Wellbeing Support Worker who has worked for Carers Support West Sussex for 5 years. Roger has worked in a variety of roles within the organisation and has a breadth of experience ranging from Response Line, supporting young adult carers, to supporting carers of people with mental health and drug and alcohol issues. Prior to working with Carers Support West Sussex, Roger worked with pastoral care teams in West Sussex

Rosemary is the groups volunteer Co- Facilitator. She has been working with Carers Support for three years helping with two groups every month before the pandemic started. She is particularly interested in carers who are looking after people suffering from dementia as she was involved in caring for her Aunt for several years who also suffered from dementia. She really enjoys her involvement with the group and meeting up with many different carers every month.
