Event description

Description

This workshop is ideal for those parents-to-be, and parents/carers of babies up to six weeks of age, who want to find out more about why carrying matters for their newborn’s arrival. Understanding the “Fourth Trimester” and early baby development is key to beginning to build the secure attachments that will have very positive effects on your child’s future development.

Using a baby carrier is a wonderful way to keep your child close to you where they belong, while giving you your hands back and the freedom to get around. We will show you a range of carriers that are suitable for newborns and young infants, and show you how to put them on safely, using weighted demo dolls, and then your own young baby if appropriate. We will discuss the importance of protecting the airway and ensure you know how to do this confidently. There will be plenty of opportunities to practice and ask questions.

The £30 price of this workshop (£5 non-refundable deposit on booking) includes a free two-week stretchy hire from the sling library and a discount off a range of carriers from the Sling Spot (www.sling-spot.co.uk).

Book yourself and a second person on and get the second ticket half price! (This can be a friend, someone in your family who will be part of your support network or your partner.) This additional ticket will not include an additional hire/discount.

To secure your space, book a place and your invoice will follow, please pay promptly.

FAQ:

I have a large bump, will I still be able to try carriers on? Absolutely! Our demo dolls are small and weighted and we have different sizes for convenience.

Can I bring my baby? Absolutely! Babies up to six weeks are welcome, we have sofas for feeding and onsite changing facilities.

Is my partner welcome? Absolutely, they will need a ticket, however. All adult members of the family or support network will benefit from the class; your “plus one” will get a discounted second ticket. Please note this additional ticket will not include an additional hire/discount.

Is there parking nearby? Yes, there is plenty of on street parking and the Q park is just round the corner by the train station. There is good public transport too.

I need to cancel my class, what do I do? Get in touch with us (info@sheffieldslingsurgery.co.uk). Deposit is non-refundable. Fees are non-refundable if cancelling within 48hours of the class.

Is my ticket transferable? Please contact us in advance if you are unable to attend the class and would like to pass the ticket to a friend.
