Event description

Description

Join CRER and Glasgow City Council to mark the UN Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination with an evening reception.

Be the first to preview CRER's forthcoming Virtual Museum of Empire, Colonialism, Slavery and Migration. This new educational resource is part of CRER's campaign for better representation of Scotland's Black History.

As well as looking to the future, we'll reflect on the past, exploring progess in Scotland twenty years on from the publication of the Macpherson report into institutional racism.

Human rights lawyer Jelina Rahman will reflect on her experience working on racial justice issues in Scotland, including her co-ordinating role in the Chhokar Family Justice Campaign, which went on to influence the reform of Scotland’s centuries-old double jeopardy law.

Light refreshments and networking from 5.30pm, with speakers from 6pm to 7.30pm.

With thanks to Glasgow City Council Lord Provost's Office for support with civic hospitality.
