Event description

Description

‘The British Conductor, Alexander Joel, who is currently conducting Rigoletto at the Royal Opera House, was born in London in 1971. He comes from a musical family, which includes his half-brother, the singer/song writer, Billy Joel. He is one of the leading international British Conductors, having conducted orchestras and operas all over Europe. He has the distinction of being the only British Conductor to have been asked to conduct a Ring Cycle at a German opera house (Wiesbaden) in preference to the German Music Director and other German conductors. He has in the past been invited to conduct in Israel, but the dates did not work and he is hopeful that something will materialise over the next few years. He has an outstanding reputation and is coming to talk to the Friends of Israel Opera about his career, giving us some incredible stories about orchestras and singers and a real insight into the world of opera across the European spectrum.

This fascinating talk will take place at Home House (20 Portman Square, Marylebone, London W1H 6LW) on Monday 15 January at 7.30pm. This is a unique and exciting event. Please bring your close friends and I very much look forward to seeing you.’
