Event description

Description

With the 2018 World Cup in full swing, Richard Williams former chief sports writer for the Guardian, sports historian and local resident Simon Inglis and football writer Simon O’Hagan come together to discuss and analyse what we’ve witnessed so far. They will discuss the England team’s fortunes, the moments to remember, the characters and the controversies, and the show that Russia has put on. How do they rate the tournament so far? What are the shocks and surprises? And most importantly, who is going to win?

Born in Birmingham, writer and broadcaster Simon Inglis penned his first comments on stadiums at the age of six. Among various football and stadium-related works he is best known for the acclaimed Football Grounds of Europe (1990) and the bestselling Football Grounds of Britain (1996). When not watching Aston Villa, he lives with his wife and two cats in London, coincidentally – he insists – halfway between Wembley Stadium and Lord’s cricket ground.

Richard Williams is a former chief sports writer for the Guardian

Simon O'Hagan is a sports writer and journalist.
