Event series: Brodie Illuminated 2025

The Four Elements

Be in your element this November, as the characters of Brodie’s intricate dining room ceiling are the inspiration behind this year’s event.

Earth, Fire, Air and Water will be showcased along the charming illuminated trail, and the 16th-century castle will be brought to life through projection, light and sound.

Wrap up cosy and bring your friends and family along to Brodie for a colourful and captivating evening.

There will be a delicious selection of street food and hot drinks available at the Brodie Catering Van. Vegan and GF options will be available.
The Playful Café will also be open for hot drinks and sweet treats.

Brodie Illuminated 2025 runs over four evenings each week (Thursday to Sunday) from Saturday 1 November until Sunday 30 November.

FAQs

Do I pay for parking?

Yes. This year there will be a £5 parking fee payable on arrival; National Trust for Scotland members receive free parking when they display their car parking sticker.

Please note: the car park fee replaces inflationary increases on individual ticket prices, and we hope this charge will encourage car sharing.

Do National Trust for Scotland members get free entry or a discounted rate?

Whilst free entry to Brodie Castle, Estate and Playful Garden, plus over 100 other places in our care, is included with every membership, special events like this one incur an additional event ticket price, which helps our charity to cover the additional costs for putting on the event. National Trust for Scotland members enjoy free car parking (see above).

Ticket options

We have an adult ticket for those aged 18+; a child ticket for those aged 3–17; and those aged 0–2 are free of charge, but please book a ticket for numbers.

Do you issue refunds?

What does my ticket include?

Your ticket is entry to the Illuminated event; no refreshments or other purchases are included.

Duration

Your entry time is stated on your ticket, which is the time you will be granted entry through the Welcome Centre. Once you have started your Illuminated experience, you are welcome to enjoy the route at your own pace. Please note the event closes at 9pm.

Accessibility

Our trail does not involve steps, but please be aware that it is not all flat ground and some sections are over tree roots, grassy areas and gravel paths.

What happens in the case of bad weather?

Unless there is a danger to visitors, Illuminated will be on in all weathers. In the case of extreme weather forcing cancellation of the event, we will publish this as soon as possible on social media, and contact customers via email or phone. We will then offer alternative dates if possible.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Please dress according to the weather and wear sturdy footwear as Illuminated is entirely outdoors and an all-weather event, unless there is danger to visitors. Please be aware of the weather forecast for your evening to ensure you are prepared. We advise you bring torches to aid you along the walk.

Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are welcome on our trail but not within our café area. Please ensure dogs are on a short lead at all times.

Directions to Brodie Castle & Estate are on our website; for satnavs, our postcode is IV36 2TE. When you arrive, please follow signage to our car park. Please car share wherever possible. From the car park, proceed to our Welcome Centre to begin your evening.
