DR. Lynsay Matthews

to present,

Every Month a Crisis — Understanding PMDD Save Lives”

Abstract:

Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) is a severe hormone-based mood disorder causing debilitating psychological symptoms in the second half of the monthly menstrual cycle. One in 20 women and people who menstruate live with PMDD. Universities, such as Dundee, with approximately 12,500 staff and students who menstruate, likely have 600+ living with PMDD, of which 200-300 will attempt suicide or self-harm. Increasing awareness is key to providing appropriate support. Today’s talk will highlight key points of PMDD and identify ongoing gaps for research, policy and practice.
