Do I need to be a professional writer to take part?

Participants of all levels of experience are very welcome to attend and no prior experience is necessary. Beginners will learn helpful techniques they can apply right away, while more experienced writers will find new inspiration in Friel's sophisticated writing process.

Should I be familiar with Friel’s work before attending?

This is a benefit, but not required. A number of Friel’s plays will be introduced during the workshop. You can also find out more about the plays and the digital archive on the Friel Reimagined website (search 'QUB Friel Reimagined').

Do I need to bring a script idea?

Not necessarily. If you have an idea you’d like to work on, please feel free to bring it to the workshop. We’ll also spend time developing new ideas.

Will I have to share my work with others?

There will be an opportunity to share - but only if you want to.

How much does it cost?

Thanks to funding support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and The Steel Charitable Trust, the workshop is free of charge.

What will you serve for lunch?

We will provide a free lunch with a mix of options, plus tea and coffee for all those taking part - just let us know if you have any dietary requirements when signing up.
