Event description

Description

This two-day workshop offers the opportunity for girls to learn about sound and physical music technology through hands-on practice.

Combining music and science, participants will get creative exploring everyday objects with electronic motors and handheld vibration speakers.

Age: 11+
Prior experience:
Introductory level
Location:
University of Huddersfield
When: Saturday 10th and 11th August 2019

Day 1

Exploration of listening - Listening to our favourite sounds and sound memories as a starting point, participants will hear, record and compose with everyday sound objects.

Everyday sound objects can be anything from toys, stationary, household items and tools. Using these ordinary items, we hope to inspire the participants to hear the magic in these sounds and combine these with motors and vibration speakers (transducers).

Day 2

Inspired by the opportunity to make music and sound out of anything, participants will collaborate together and build their own sonic installation and sound performance.
