About this event

Charity & Causes • Other

Be part of a county-wide network providing inclusive play areas for all. Hear from experts in the field, young campaigners, and groups who have adopted an inclusive approach to play areas.

This event is an opportunity to learn what inclusive and accessible play areas look like, and understand their importance in the physical and mental health of our communities. We will present our campaign alongside experts in the field and others who have adopted an inclusive approach. You will be invited to take away and consider our Right to Play Pledge, which will inform and shape decisions for play area policy and projects.

Please note: If you are under 18 you must be accompanied by an adult.

The Campaign

Young people from Norfolk’s Youth Advisory Boards, have identified that many play areas across the county are not accessible, nor provide inclusive equipment for children with a disability, nor are they accessible for families and friends with a disability. With MAP, we have developed a Right to Play Pledge; a commitment to taking an inclusive approach to the planning, design and commissioning of refurbished and new play areas. We encourage businesses and other appropriate organisations to support our campaign by signing the pledge.

This campaign aims to create a local inclusive play area development network across the county, providing opportunity for all, and leading to the re-establishment of the Play Area Forum.

The Pledge

By signing our Right to Play Pledge, you'll be one of many organsations across Norfolk who are committed to thinking inclusively when it comes to playgrounds. If you're involved in building or commissioning playgrounds, you'll be part of a network of organisations committed to creating inclusive spaces, where young people, their friends and family can all play alongside each other with ease. Sign the pledge and commit to providing inclusive parks and play equipment in all future projects.

Who We Are

Youth Advisory Boards are groups of young people working with professionals to make changes in their local area through campaigning, lobbying, advocacy, hosting events and funding services. They meet to identify issues that impact young people, and play a strategic role in meeting these needs. There is a Youth Advisory Board in each district of Norfolk.
