Everything is Not Okay & Footsteps in the Dark | #ReframingFilmNarrative
Event Information
About this Event
The next instalment in our #ReframingFilmNarrative series is a double-screening!
We begin with 'Everything is Not Okay', a film by Eugene Muigai, focusing on a young black man's reflections on mental health struggles. Eugene Muigai is a Kenyan filmmaker, who in his journey to find himself he has learnt the importance of storytelling, as a tool to use in helping him as well as help others to find their voice. He does this by bringing people together to start dialogues, spoken word and filming through directing and writing.
The second screening is 'Footsteps in the Dark', a film by Shuria Abdi and Azza Satti, which explores mental health and stigma in the Nairobi Somali Muslim community.
The screening will be followed by Questions and Answers with the Director of the 2 films and representative from Zanzibar Mental Health Shamba (ZMHS).
