Event description

Description

A one-day introductory workshop on 'groups that help', offered by York Groupwork Ltd.

'The essence of man is social' – wrote Michael Foulkes, the founder of group analysis, and groups are indeed at the heart of our development as people, as well as our professional and social lives.

This interactive workshop offers an opportunity to discover more about group work, exploring the opportunities and challenges of the group context through a combination of discussion, exercises, some theoretical input and a taste of experiential work. Participants will be able to reflect on their own experiences – good and bad – as group members in different contexts.

The workshop is suitable for anyone interested in 'groups that help'. Previous participants have included youth workers, clergy, those working in social care, the voluntary sector, in training and consultancy work and with ex-offenders, as well as people leading more formal therapeutic groups in health and mental health settings.

You will also have an opportunity to find out about the Diploma in Groupwork Practice offered in York.

Materials, refreshments and a good buffet lunch included.
