Exceed Teaching Schools is delighted to offer school leaders interested in or considering forming a multi-academy trust (MAT) this five-day programme focusing on the key differences between LA-maintained schools and academies within MATs.
We’ve secured the involvement of a range of professional agencies plus establish and emerging MATs from within the region to provide an insight into the key considerations for leaders.
Session 1: Statutory responsibilities, 23rd January 2017. This session provides an overview of the legal and regulatory context in which MATs are required to operate, basic knowledge of applicable law, and an understanding of when they should seek further advice and guidance. The session is led by Rollits LLP, Wellspring Academies Trust and Exceed Academies Trust.
Session 2: Finance and procurement, 8th February 2017. For those leaders who are not from a professional finance background, this session helps leaders to develop a clear and detailed understanding of the responsibilities, requirements and issues relating to the financial operation of the MAT. This session is led by BHP Accountants, Wellspring Academies Trust and Exceed Academies Trust.
Session 3: Policies, 2nd March 2017. Policies relating to employment and HR; pensions; safeguarding; and health and safety are key considerations for MATs, particularly in relation to those aspects of biggest risk or complexity. The session is led by FusionHR, Wellspring Academies Trust and Exceed Academies Trust.
Session 4: Governance, 13th March 2017. Two key areas will be explored - how structures can be developed to support the management, monitoring and leadership at all levels; and what makes an effective Board and how do you achieve it? The session is led by Browne Jacobson, Wellspring Academies Trust and Exceed Academies Trust.
Session 5: Business planning, 29th March 2017. This session will consider the tools and provide example to support leaders to develop the highly important business plan. The session is led by Wellspring Academies Trust and Exceed Academies Trust.
