About this event

We got tired of going to HR events that left us uninspired and feeling like we didn't fit in, so we created our own.

We're saying a BIG NO to the following:

  • Dull speakers talking about even duller topics
  • Sales pitches from the stage
  • Not actually learning anything
  • A corporate vibe you could get by staying in the office
  • Nowhere to escape when you need a 'time out'
  • Theatre style seating where you feel trapped all day
  • Forced fun = no fun
  • Cringey networking that you can't wait to get away from
  • Soulless venues
  • No recognition that HR can be fascinating, hilarious, difficult, emotional or all of the above at once

Evolving HR is for EVERYONE, but especially for anyone who has ever felt 'othered' in their professional life.

Maybe you aren't 'corporate enough', have felt like an outsider because you work in HR, are neurodivergent or have been marginalised somehow for some aspect of who you are.

If you've ever felt sidelined or like you don't fit in at an HR or work event, you'll probably enjoy Evolving HR: The Big One.

We'd love to see you in Bristol on November 20th!

Here are a few snaps from last year's event in Manchester, to give you an idea of what you can expect...

Frequently asked questions

Who is behind Evolving HR?

Evolving HR was founded by Kirsty Baggs-Morgan, initially as a directory of resources for HR professionals. It has grown into an entire HR ecosystem consisting of an app, community, webinars and events. The conference organisation is a joint effort between Kirsty and Toby Kheng of Freeformers.

Is there a dress code?

We HATE dress codes. We don't believe in telling grown ups what to wear. As long as you come in whatever you feel most comfortable in (and don't breach any public decency laws), then anything goes. Jeans, ballgowns, PJ's, onesies, fancy dress, they're all welcome.

Nearest Hotels?

The Harbour Hotel is very central in Bristol and whether you decide to stay at the venue or nearby, there are no shortage of hotels within a few minutes walk: The Clayton Hotel, Premier Inn (Finzels Reach), Radisson Blu and Hotel du Vin are all within easy walking distance.

What's the set up going to look like?

We're setting the room out cabaret style, for comfort, ease of conversation and ease of escape. We'll also have a dedicated quiet room for anyone who needs a time out or doesn't wan to sit all day and our breaks and lunch and drinks will be in a separate area.

Are you feeding us?

Lunch will be buffet style and 100% plant-based. Once you have bought a ticket, you'll be asked whether you have any food allergies and we'll do our best to accommodate these.

Do I have to 'network'?

We want you to have the opportunity to speak to as many or as few others as you're comfortable with, so we won't force you into anything. Don't want to speak to anyone all day? Your call. Want to meet absolutely everyone? Also your call.

Are there drinks afterwards?

If you've ever met Kirsty or Toby, you'll already know the answer to this... OF COURSE THERE ARE (but they don't have to be alcoholic) Why not join us there to chat to our speakers and storytellers, meet other HR professionals and 'network' as much or as little as you want. Or just have a drink.

Organized by

We are running our first ever conference on November 26th 2024 at the Victoria Warehouse in Old Trafford, Manchester

Our goal with this conference is to give attendees a mix of professional and personal learning and development, with no dry content and no sales pitches in the presentations. We are building it around our shared experiences of the good, the bad and the ugly of HR conferences and are creating something quite different that you won't want to miss.

Tickets are on sale now.
