As the electrification of transport continues around the world, electric (EV) vehicles are becoming the largest energy asset in many households. They will play many roles: decarbonizing road transport, stabilizing the grid, powering homes, buffering excess rooftop solar power, etc.

However, despite this promise, EVs are still seen more as a problem rather than an asset, as the fast deployment of EV charging increases load on the electric grid while innovative demand-side technologies are still in their early stages.
