Description

Lia Castiglione will lead this Exam Access Arrangements Update 2019/2020 workshop.

This event is for Assessors and SENCos/Learning Support staff who are involved in the access arrangements process for GCSE/GCE level qualifications within a school or college.

The event will cover common access arrangements and evidence gathering and reporting for learners in all categories of need.

It will update delegates on the 2019/2020 JCQ regulations, focusing on the changes introduced for the academic year. Please bring a copy of the 2019/2020 JCQ Guideline, if available.

Presenter:

Lia Castiglione is the Head of Training at Communicate-ed, having been a senior manager at PATOSS for 7 years.

Lia has been teaching and supporting learners of all ages for over 25 years and in varying educational settings. She is a specialist teacher who is highly experienced in all aspects of access arrangements, has held a current Assessment Practising Certificate since 2008 and regularly assesses in schools and colleges. Lia is the co-creator of a postgraduate access arrangements assessor course and is the author of the PATOSS/JCQ book 'Assessing the Need for Access Arrangements'.

Doors open for registration and coffee at 9 a.m. ready for the event to start at 9.30 a.m. There will be a refreshment break mid morning and the event will finish at 13.30 p.m.

FAQs

Is parking available?

There is parking available on the campus, on the left hand side as you enter the university grounds. The university is introducing parking charges from 23 September 2019. Further details will be available in due course.

Although we try to avoid times when there are university or football events on the same day, there are occasions when capacity may be reduced. Unfortunately, we may not have pre-notification of this.

Can I arrive by public transport?

You can reach the event easily by bus (Number 25) or train (Falmer Station).

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, we will have a list of attendees and you do not need a printed ticket, but you must have purchased a ticket in advance. There is no entry on the door.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Yes, if you are unable to attend a colleague may take your place. Please email us to let us know.so we can update our record and provide an attendance certificate.

What if I can't use my ticket?

If you are unable to attend, please email us to let us know by e-mail, so we can offer the place to anyone on the wait list.

Are refreshments available?

Yes, we will be providing refreshments on arrival and again at the mid-session break. Following the event you may use the on-site Atrium Cafe in the Checkland Building if you wish.

Can I bring my child/children with me?

This event is for adults aged 18 and over only. Any children and their accompanying adult will be declined entry. All attendees must purchase a suitable ticket in advance, but they will not be refundable if entry is declined.

Do I have to bring a laptop or other device to the event?

No, it is entirely optional.
