Excel for Archivists: Introduction and Taster Session
Join ARA Cymru/Wales online as Gillian Sheldrick (Excel for Archivists trainer) leads an introductory Excel session tailored for archivists.
In the session, Gillian will demonstrate some key techniques and concepts helpful when using Excel for listing archives, including filtering data and sorting using multiple criteria. The session will mostly take the form of a presentation and demonstration, but there will also be an opportunity for participants to try out some of the techniques (optional).
The session includes time to answer Excel-related questions submitted in advance: contact Gillian with your questions at SheldrickG@Gmail.com.
The training will focus on using Microsoft Excel on a PC, but may also be helpful to users of other spreadsheet software. You are welcome to contact Gillian for advice on how applicable the training will be to your specific software.
The material used in the ‘taster’ exercise is taken from Gillian’s Excel for Archivists self-guided study course. As well as providing a chance to try some of the demonstrated techniques for yourself, it provides an introduction to the way the course works.
