Event Details

Funders, commissioners and individual supporters want to know that you can make a difference before they’ll donate to your cause. Demonstrating your impact may not bring money straight into the bank tomorrow, yet clearly evidenced outcomes will go a long way to ensuring a healthy financial future for your organisation.

Knowing your impact can also help you identify gaps in your services and highlight what’s working and what isn’t so that you can improve your delivery to meet the needs of the people you support.

Excel is the perfect tool for effectively and efficiently keeping track of information, analysing data, crunching numbers and presenting the results in an easy to understand way. It’s also ideal for charities and community organisations that are not yet at the stage of developing or buying a database.

Join this course to gain a good understanding of using Excel to monitor and evaluate your services and get the practice you need to start applying your knowledge to your everyday work.

Is this training for me?

This course is for anyone working in a voluntary or community organisation that is responsible for monitoring and evaluating outcomes. It is at Intermediate Level so is appropriate for people who already have a working knowledge of Excel. It is not suitable for complete beginners.

Outcomes

By the end of the course you’ll be able to:

  • Manage, filter, sort and view spreadsheets of multiple records

  • Apply complex formula as well as use various functions to support monitoring & evaluation

  • Importing data from other sources (including using Office 365 Forms)

  • Present your data in charts and graphs and use simple mapping applications (for postcode data)

  • Link worksheets & create a functional and interactive dashboard / summaries

As this course is completely hands on, giving you time to put into practice what you have learned at each stage, we have built in a working lunch. Please bring something to eat, and we will provide tea and coffee!
