As part of our 12 days of Wishmas, Rays of Sunshine will be hosting an exclusive ice skating session for our wonderful wish families to enjoy outside the beautiful Brighton Pavilion.

The ice rink is fully accessible so there will be the opportunity for everyone to have a go, including wheelchairs directly onto the ice.

This event is free for all to attend.

Opening time - Please arrive by 9.40am to ensure we can check you in and get your boots fitted before our 10.00am skating session. We have the rink for 45 minutes, so if you arrive late, you will be allowed on the ice but may not have the full 45 minutes of skating.

Closing time - 12:00pm

Age recommendation - This event is suitable for all ages! Your child must be old enough to stand unaided in order to skate (unless they are using a wheelchair). Younger children are welcome to watch from the side with a responsible adult.

Getting there - The ice rink is a 10-minute walk from Brighton Station. Please be aware that there is NO parking onsite, the nearest car park is the NCP car park on Church Street.

Catering - Light refreshments will be provided free of charge to families after the skating session. Please inform us prior to the event if you or a family member have any allergies. Further refreshments will be available to purchase.

Waitlist - As places are limited, please let us know if you can no longer attend as we will be running a waiting list. If tickets show as fully booked - please do still join our waiting list as we actively manage the guestlist and always end up allocating tickets from our waiting lists.

Cystic Fibrosis - If you or a family member has Cystic Fibrosis then please indicate this when booking. On arrival you will be given a red wristband and this will enable you to identify other guests with a similar condition, to avoid cross-infection. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions regarding this.

Wheelchair users - The Royal Pavilion Ice Rink is accessible to wheelchair users. All exits and entrances are ramped, viewing areas and café are accessible and a disabled toilet is available. Please note that wheelchair users must be accompanied on the ice by a competent skater at all times. Marshals will be on-hand if necessary. Electric wheelchairs are permitted but must be switched to manual setting whilst on the ice. Please indicate at the time of booking if one of your party will be in a wheelchair.

Weather - The Royal Pavilion Ice Rink is an outdoor event and skating continues whatever the weather so please dress appropriately - if it's raining, you will get wet! Parents of young children may wish to bring a change of clothes - should they get wet on the ice or due to poor weather. Long coats, skirts and scarves should not be worn for visitor's own safety.

Bags - Bags will not be permitted on the ice so please plan ahead for this and leave with a family member not skating, or lockers are available on-site at a cost of £1.

Skate sizes - The smallest skate boot available is European shoe size 25 (age approx. 3 to 4 years’ old). Bob skates (dual blades) are also available for tiny skaters. The largest skate boot is shoe size UK15 / European 49. You do not need to inform us of shoe size in advance, but please arrive at least 20 minutes early to be fitted so we can ensure you have a full 45 minutes for skating.

Penguin Skate Aids - These are available to the smallest children measuring 1.2m tall or less. Penguins must remain within the Beginners' Rink area at all times. There is a limit on the number available to us, but should they all be booked we will ensure everyone gets a chance to make use of one during their visit on the ice.

Photos - Phones and cameras may not be used on the ice. We will be taking photographs during the event which will be used on our social media platforms and website. By attending this event, you are agreeing for Rays of Sunshine and our event partners to use any photos taken during the day to help promote the charities work.

Due to the demand of these events, families will be limited to booking a maximum of 3 events, including the Christmas Party, across the 12 Days of Wishmas programme.

This event is restricted to immediate family members only, living in the same household as the wish child.
