King's Business School invites you to attend our Executive Open Day on September 4th, where you will be able to experience some of the executive education we offer here at King's and network with other industry professionals. This open day will cover Strategy & Leadership, and is the first of three events we will be hosting at the Business School.

The schedule for the day will be as follows:

We will have a number of talks available to guests on the day, please select one of the following sessions to attend and RSVP with the relevant ticket:

Session 1: Digital Marketing

Professor Ko De Ruyter - 1.02, North East Wing

There is no shortage of digital marketing trend reports. Most are heavy on speculation but thin on evidence. In this session, we set out to explore 4 ¾ research-based trends that are poised to impact business practice: AR, GDPR, Hyper-personalization, Unstructured data analysis and Voice-controlled access. We discuss their strategic implications for the digital marketing space, while trying not to disturb its groove.

Session 2: The Role of Emotions in Leadership

Dr Alexandra Budjanovcanin - 1.03, North East Wing

This session looks at how emotions, which often have negative connotations in organisations, can be used as a tool by leaders. I will focus on the underlying mechanisms of how emotions can be harnessed in the workplace and the strategies through which leaders can use these to enhance performance, effect change and manage stress at work.

Session 3: Strategy, leadership and negotiation in the Obama administration's campaign to counter WMD

Professor Wyn Bowen & Dr Matthew Moran - 1.04, North East Wing

President Barack Obama came to power determined to address strategic challenges posed by the proliferation of WMD capabilities to state and non-state actors. This case study examines why and how the President and his administration sought to tackle specific WMD challenges from 2009-2017. It focuses on the different approaches brought to bear on problems including the threat of nuclear terrorism, the Iranian nuclear programme and the use of chemical weapons in Syria. The case study sheds light on the role of strategy, leadership and negotiation in addressing these strategic challenges'.

Session 4: Integrated Innovation: a model for solving complex problems through cross-sector collaboration

Rachel Parr, Chief Operating Officer (Health), King's College London

The most complex problems in society, business and the public sector can only be solved with collaborative solutions that bring together expertise from all sectors. This ‘integrated innovation’ model has the potential to deliver solutions that cannot be achieved in isolation.

This session explores the opportunities and challenges of cross-sector partnerships. What are the barriers? What are the underlying assumptions that sectors often make about one another? How can we better leverage one another’s expertise? This interactive session will also seek to learn from case studies of cross-sector partnerships in practice.

Executive Open Days at King's Business School: Strategy & Leadership
