Description

Exercise is Medicine (EIM) is a programme of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the American Medical Association (AMA) (see exerciseismedicine.org). It is a global initiative that ‘encourages primary care physicians and other health care providers to include physical activity in disease prevention and when designing treatment plans for medical conditions’. Chair of EIM, Professor Sallis will be visiting Limerick on July 2nd and will present the latest research on EIM at tUniversity Hospital Limerick.

Professor Robert E. Sallis is a family physician practicing at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, California, and Co-Director of their Sports Medicine Fellowship programme. He is Past-President of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), Chair of EIM, and Chair of the Healthcare Sector of the U.S. Physical Activity Plan. He is also physician and spokesperson for the “Every Body Walk!” campaign.
