Exeter Genetics Laboratory Open Afternoon
Fri 6 January 2017, 13:00 – 16:00 GMT
We are holding an open event to provide information to prospective NHS Scientist Training Programme (STP) trainees who would be interested in carrying out their training in Exeter. The event will run from 1.00pm (registration opens at 12.45pm) until 4.00pm and will consist of a series of presentations by past and present STP trainees in Genomics, Bioinformatics (Genomics) and Genomic Counselling, as well as Clinical Scientists and Genetic Technologists. There will also be an opportunity for a tour of the laboratory.
The Exeter Genetics Laboratory has an international reputation for its monogenic diabetes research and genetic testing services. The genetics laboratory is co-located in the new RILD (Research, Innovation, Learning and Development) Centre with leading University of Exeter Medical School researchers in genetics, genomics and epigenetics and the South West NHS Genomic Medicine Centre team. This model of integrated research and diagnostic genetic testing has been of immense benefit for the implementation of new technologies and clinical diagnostic services. The laboratory has hosted trainees for over 10 years, with established training and education links with other life science and pathology departments.
For information about the STP programmes and other careers in Healthcare Science can be found on the National School of Healthcare Science webiste.
