Event description
Hear from the latest 11 sustainability-focussed companies on the Exeter Velocities accelerator and how you may be able to collaborate.

About this Event

Exeter Velocities was established in December 2017 in response to the emerging 12 Transformational Goals of Exeter and a desire to build a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem in the forward thinking city of Exeter.

Join us for Exeter Velocities Demo Day to hear from the 11 high-potential startup companies we’ve been working with over the last 6 months, who are developing low carbon, energy, mobility and circular economy business propositions, bringing forth technology used in revolutionary ways, to achieve more sustainable cities.

As a programme of city transformation organisation, Exeter City Futures, Exeter Velocities is an accelerator supporting sustainability-focussed startup businesses who are building disruptive solutions that have potential to create positive impact locally, and that can be scaled up for cities across the UK, and globally. We’re always on the look out for new companies that help create sustainable cities of the future and whose entrepreneurs can benefit from our sector-expert mentorship, collaboration with key city stakeholders, and use Exeter as an ideal testbed to develop, test and refine their concepts!

It’s a grand opportunity for our fifth cohort of participating Nurture and Advance Programme businesses to share their progress, and for you to learn about these exciting ventures who are delivering solutions for a more sustainable future.

Please come and join us for this occasion, over drinks and refreshments, at our Exeter City Space innovation hub!

ADVANCE startups:

Howz helps older people stay independent for longer, using data from smart homes and meters. Through machine learning, anomalies and changes in behaviour are detected, helping families and friends to detect problems early so as to avoid a crisis.

iSensing help cities plan for the future of transportation by providing a real-time data analytics platform on how people move around cities, using IoT sensors and data science to empower transport planners to optimise transport plans and encourage sustainable modes of transport.

Metadataworks transforms unmanaged data in the health and social care sector into discoverable data assets that can benefit society, by automating time-consuming data preparation activities and continuously monitoring datasets to improve quality, security and governance.

SEAB Energy is a first-to-market, decentralised circular waste management that converts bio waste into energy and revenue, directly on site of the waste producer through a highly mobile, container-based power plant.

NURTURE startups:

Build Solar is a solar energy-generating building material, which allows seamless integration within building architecture. Incorporating glass block technology, with a modular and attractive design, it can be installed or retrofitted into buildings enabling electricity generation as well as thermal insulation.

Climate Edge delivers agronomy at scale. Using IoT and SaaS they allow agronomists in tropical cash crop cooperatives to provide thousands of farmers with expert advice and management recommendations, from doubling crop yields to giving farmers a vote in what training they receive, the impacts are felt throughout the supply chain.

Emsol is a real-time monitoring and analytics SaaS platform that is connected to a network of vehicle tracking, air and noise pollution sensors.

ev.energy is a smart electric vehicle charging platform. Their software connects charge points with EVs to enable owners to charge their vehicles when electricity is cheapest and cleanest, providing this software to energy suppliers for a fee. ev.energy

Evocco is your eco-friendly shopping assistant that helps you find the most nutritious food for the lowest environmental impact. Snap your receipt, build a basket, and track your progress over time. Evocco gives you all the sustainability tips and tricks you need to educate your inner eco-warrior and align your beliefs with what you buy, through a mobile app.

RunFriendly is "Airbnb for showers" for active people. They match (and grow) demand among runners, cyclists and those on-the-go in cities with under-used showers in gyms, hotels, co-working spaces, retailers and leisure centres. Users of the platform run and cycle more, save time and money whilst partner gyms and other venues generate new income.

Wase use a modular on-site treatment system to convert wastewater into clean water for irrigation use. This recovers nutrients that can be used for fertilisers and generates biogas for cooking and electricity. 1000 litres of wastewater a day can be treated by a cell, and can provide 1.7 times more energy and work ten times as fast other technologies, such as anaerobic digestion.
