Description

Africa in Motion 2017, in collaboration with the Africa's Lost Classics project have curated a large audio-visual exhibition entitled African Film: Looking Back Through the Lens at 3 locations across Glasgow and Edinburgh.

This exhibition aims to revive lost histories, spaces and times, and includes key classic films accompanied by posters, contextual information and film clips.

Following a pre-run at Glasgow's Kelvin Hall, the full-scale exhibition will open with a wine reception at Whitespace Gallery in Edinburgh on Monday evening 30 October, from 6pm onwards and will run until 9 November. Do come along to the event and enjoy music, wine, snacks and the presence of some of the artists and curators of the exhibition! A photography-based exhibition will also be displayed in Filmhouse Cafe Bar in Edinburgh during the Africa in Motion film festival between 27 October and 5 November.

If you are interested in film as art, learning about the lost history of African cinema, and about the histories and cultures of Africa itself, do visit the different exhibitions which offer new perspectives on the lives of African films.
