We will be running a nature ramble at the Yorkshire Water site of Tophill Low Nature Reserve. Located north of Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire, Tophill Low Nature reserve is an active Yorkshire Water treatment works built in 1959. It formally opened as a nature reserve in 1993 and features 12 hides spread across a 300 acre site that flanks the river Hull.
The two reservoirs - 'D' and 'O' dominate the reserve and have SSSI status for their massive wildfowl numbers. Around the perimeter a network of marshes, ponds, woodlands and grasslands result in an annual 160+ bird species, with over 60 readily visible even in mid winter.
We will meet at 11am for an 11.30am start. There are several accessible parking spaces and accessible toilets.
Meet at 11am in front of the Visitors Centre.Please wear weather appropriate clothing and bring a packed lunch and something to drink.
This will be a socially paced ramble with opportunities to stop for a break or take photographs. We will stop to have a packed lunch so it is worth bringing food and drinks.
People who use other types of off-road mobility equipment are welcome to join the ramble, however, the route has only been checked using a Mountain Trike and access cannot be guaranteed. Please contact us to discuss this prior to booking.
