Led by members of our Lived Experience Panel, these quarterly meetings provide a forum for members to discuss experience of care topics, and develop understanding in how they can advance this complex and challenging agenda.
The theme of this network is Shared Decision Making (SDM), which is seen as a key aspect of modern healthcare. So why is it often missing from the healthcare we experience?
In this session we’ll be taking a look at how SDM can support better relationships between patients and healthcare professionals, to improve experience of care.
By comparing the different perspectives between what healthcare professionals think they are doing, with what patients feel they actually experience, we’ll be exploring how to help bridge the gap and support successful co-production and engagement.
This event will also:
· Introduce the key principles, drivers and tools for SDM
· Share examples of how to support high-quality patient conversations
· Explore opportunities to develop SDM programmes in partnership with patients and communities
· Care experience leads
· Patients, service users and carers
· Third sector / Healthwatch representatives
