Event description

Description

A colourful day of nature connection, finishing with the making of a mandala together with natural found objects.

Bathe yourself in natural, autumn colours and indulge your senses as you join certified Forest Therapy Guide, Carina for a day of relaxation and beauty.

The day will be based around the Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing), so is gentle, unlike other more extreme activities. The ancient Forest site is undulating with medium inclines in parts, mainly along winding, single track woodland paths through the trees.

We will walk only about 2km in total over the duration of the day. For those wishing to stay close to the visitor’s centre and not walk but dip in and out of the Forest atmosphere, that is also possible whilst joining in parts of the day as suites.

Includes:

  • Brief introduction to Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing) and explanation of the structure of the day.
  • Leisurely stroll through ancient forest with optional stops for, sensory invitations/reflections along the way, based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku.
  • Visit to a bird hide.
  • Access to the woodland, Visitor's Centre with toilets and wood burning stove.
  • Foraged, forest tea and light snacks.
  • Natural Forest art/craft activities.

N.B: Suitable for individuals or families (children over 8yrs old).
Access: Most paths are narrow, uneven/ gently sloping in parts.
Facilities: Toilets, tables, seating indoors and outdoors.
Free parking.

What to bring/not to bring

Please bring a pic nic (this can be left at the visitor's centre which will be locked) and many more warm clothes than for a normal walk/waterproofs.
Please leave watches, valuables, mobiles and devices behind (or turn them off).
Please do not bring dogs.

FAQs

Is it a solo or group thing?

It’s a reflective experience. Group sizes are intentionally small, typically 4-6 people, making it a great gift for your partner, friend, or as a couple.

Who is it for?

Unlike many other forest activities, it’s especially suitable for those who may not choose normally to go for a walk in the woods or exert themselves. It’s not necessary to be particularly fit. It’s gentle, inclusive, pleasurable and welcoming – perfect for those convalescing or taking time out from busy lives.

What to bring?

Forest bathing is slow. It’s not a physically exerting activity, but it is outside for the duration, so it’s very important to stay warm. More clothes are needed than for a normal walk in the woods.

  • Layers of clothing which can go in a back pack, along with waterproof clothing, plus walking boots or trainers.
  • A notepad or sketchbook (if you wish).

How can I contact the organiser?

You can contact Carina directly by emailing carina@forestbathe.co.uk. Carina will get in touch with you before the event via email.

Can a forest bathing experience cater for my specific mental of physical health needs?

Please inform Carina if you think there is anything she should be aware of regarding your mental or physical health. You can do this by filling out the brief questionnaire you will receive by email shortly after booking. Please check your junk emails if it has not arrived or contact Carina.

She will make every effort to make sure that your needs are catered for and is happy to chat to you about this prior to booking if you have questions or concerns at carina@forestbathe.co.uk. Forest Bathe's Privacy Notice is available on the website.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes, please get in touch with Carina to do so.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Please check your emails from Forestbathe prior to attending in case of cancellation (due to adverse weather conditions or other unlikely unforeseen circumstances), in these cases Carina will transfer your ticket to a new future date.

Can I buy Forest Bathe Experience as a gift?

Yes! If you’re buying the experience for someone else or indeed for yourself, please do not book later than 24hrs before the date so that Carina can provide for your individual needs having been in touch by email.
