Experience World Fusion with Ed White & Vini Devda
In honor of South Asian Heritage Month, Ed White & Vini Devda deliver emotive improvisational fusion music. This will be conveyed with a combination of deep melodic vocals, violin, harmonium and drums. A rich blend of Indian classical & Indian folk, Celtic folk, jazz, and Western classical music. This concert is dependent upon one of the performers securing a visa, if this is not possible, Ed White will perform a series of world-fusion pieces on violin.
Visiting from the sacred city of Pushkar, Vini Devda is a master Indian vocalist. Trained in the ancient Indian classical tradition by his father and grandfather, Vini blends this with Rajasthani folk and Bollywood singing. A regular performer at major festivals including the Holi celebrations in Pushkar Stadium, his voice evokes the spirit of India.
Ed White is a classically trained violinist whose journey has taken him from touring orchestras in Europe to India and Spain to study world traditions. Now based in Edinburgh, Ed brings a rich tapestry of global influences to his performances, blending Scottish folk, Indian ragas, Arabic melodies, and jazz improvisation. Ed curates evenings of cross-cultural musical dialogue. He has previously performed alongside Vini at the Holi Festival in Rajasthan.
