Event description
Gentle movement sessions informed by experiential anatomy and developmental movement patterns, with different themes each week.

About this event

These sessions are informed by experiential anatomy and contemporary dance improvisation practices which draw on the materiality of the body as a poetic resource. Each session will begin with a brief introduction to the day's anatomical theme (including looking at imagery), followed by experiential explorations and gentle prompts for improvisation. The last section of the session will be accompanied by sound and offer space for integration. The overall intention is to cultivate sensitivity to initiation and quality of movement as well as an imaginative pleasure in moving. Individualised responses are welcome throughout.

My approach to facilitating experiential anatomy is deeply influenced by the work of Linda Hartley and my training in Integrative Bodywork and Movement Therapy with her. Other practitioners who inform my work are Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, Andrea Olsen, Caryn Mchose, Miranda Tufnell, Janet Kaylo, Fabiano Culora and Natalie Garrett Brown among many others.

I will deliver the same class three times per week on Mondays at 6.30-7.45pm (BST) and on Fridays at 10.00-11.15am and again at 12.00-13.15pm (BST). The sessions are designed so that they can be attended as a series or on a drop-in basis.

The cost is 5.00 pounds per session for a maximum of fifteen people. There are a couple of free places for those experiencing financial hardship. For free places, block bookings or any other questions contact: info@amyvoris.com OR doridheavybody@hotmail.com

Please note that these sessions are suitable for those with some previous experience of experiential anatomy.
