Event description

Description

INTRINSIC is proud to present the first edition of a new 3-day event of experimental sound, art, contemporary dance, film, and well-being.

Headlining will be ex-Cluster/Harmonia member Roedelius with Christopher Chaplin live, Jan Jelinek (of Faitiche fame) together with long-time collaborator Masayoshi Fujita live, and Astral Industries’ 3-piece ensemble CHI Factory live.

They’ll be joined by E/Tape’s cosmic mind affair, Shcaa’s live debut, SME live, Dasha Rekina will be bringing her new project Zoya Zerkalski live and Perm co-founder Baby Vulture.

Rare experimental sets from Nicholas Lutz and Praslea, as well as from Gwenan and Andrew James Gustav. Although popularly associated with club-spaces, they are being called to deliver aspects of their work that are scarcely exposed and exhibited to the public.

Additionally, there will be performances from Uruguay-based Melina Sarser, Astral Industries founder Ario, Miss I (Romania’s first record store head), the Volks resident Vlada + more.

Visuals are an integral part of the intrinsic events and extensive projection mapping pieces will be provided for the festival by Dreamrec, Coté, and Acca. They will be joined by Naturalgoritm, who will contribute installations and site production. See previous examples here:

Included in the programme will be artist residencies and live painting, daily sessions of Kundalini yoga and Vinyasa Flow, voice and mantra workshops (courtesy of Ilhem), and healing arts by Lani Rocillo, and film screenings (themed around experimental arts and nature/environment) will be shown daily.

Location:

The festival will take place at the stunning Le Parc de Joséphine Baker. The site has many amenities including a music hall, restaurant, swimming pool, etc. The park is a significant and historical landmark in France as a site where world peace talks have been held and a place that openly supports music and the arts. The park is located in Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, which sits on the confluent of the Dordogne and the Ceou river. Dominated by its magnificent castle it is one of the most beautiful villages of France.

Places to visit:

The local region has many sites to visit, with popular neighbouring towns and cities (e.g. Bordeaux, Cahors, Toulouse) also within driving distance.

The Castle - Château des Milandes

Built in 1489, this charming castle with its magnificent Gothic features is a great example of Renaissance architecture. The interior is now restored and maintained in the 1930s style in which Josephine Baker decorated it. There are exhibitions and displays commemorating the life of Josephine Baker, which started in the back street clubs of New York and progressed to France where she was very well received and where she played a significant role in the resistance during World War 2.

The Garden - The legacy of Jules Vacherot

A great opportunity for you to stroll through a garden listed as a Historical Monument.
