Mark Making Freedom & Alternative Techniques

Live demos and task based exploration of mark making freedom. Experimenting with making marks to see what you enjoy.

Using our senses as a guide to ignite our confidence in mark making.

Exploring alternative techniques with wet media (Isher will be using watercolour and ink) to discover mark making variation

Application of explorative mark making within a fashion context. Using our expressive mark making freedom and learning how to apply it within a fashion context to create unique fashion illustrations.

Q&A with Isher to answer your burning questions. Isher will of course be sharing her tips and tricks during the session.

DESCRIPTION

Fashion Illustration based half day workshop - Come and immerse yourself in 4 hours of colours, techniques, helpful hints and tips from award winning artist Isher Dhiman. Jump at the chance to get up close and watch Isher at work as she reveals her secrets and methods of capturing the moods, shapes and nuances of the fashion items adorning the live model.

Here you'll be able to get to see the materials that Isher will be using and learn exactly how she uses her tools to achieve the results she wants. There will be an organic conversation between the hosts of 2B Or Not 2B Collective and Isher, and all artists are welcome to join in with their questions.

The session will be segmented into alternating sections of live demos and self directed drawing.

Due to very limited in person tickets we recommend booking well in advance. This session will also be live streamed online for those of you who would like to join via Zoom, as well as being recorded for playback which will be available later via 2B Or Not 2B Collective's website.

BIO

Isher Dhiman is an award winning mixed media artist with 20 years experience in creating artworks that originate from fashion and the figurative form, evolving overtime to encompass a range of conceptual editorial art. A solid foundation in problem solving born from her degree in Economics, which she went on to supplement with further education at London College of Fashion, St Martins College of Art, Heatherley School of Art and House of Illustration.

Isher loves the tangible nature of the variety of mixed media she works with. The freedom and movement of watercolour teamed with the anticipation and unpredictability of the end result, is something she thrives on. She enjoys the mindfulness nature of unplanned paper cut outs, in pure Matisse style, to add a layered contrast to hand drawn elements. Isher enjoys the carbon black line of a piece of graphite or charcoal gliding across a page with trained effortlessness. She has a unique instinctiveness in which to respond to a brief and uses her mastery of wet media, to create evocative conceptual work, often, reduced down to it’s essential form. Isher loves to use her artistic voice to create evocative, harmonious works of art that communicate an idea, message, emotion, state of mind or simply a beautiful visual interpretation often conceptual; engaging and enticing the viewer. Her art is a visual storytelling mechanism to ignite thought and curiosity in others and advocate education of topics she is passionate about.

Isher has had her work featured in a variety of publication and Fashion magazined. Previous clients include British Vogue, Space NK, Overdue Magazine, Waitrose & Partners NCPA, Welcome Movement and many more. Isher has exhibited across the world and is currently exhibiting at The CAMP gallery in Miami.

**Please note**

Paper is provided in the session, however materials are not included so please do bring your own, or alternatively you are welcome to purchase materials from the Cassart Islington Store before and after the session where you will be entitled to a 10% discount for same day purchases. Isher will be working primarily in watercolour of which you can follow suite or work in a different medium of your choice.

HOUSE RULES AND MODEL SAFETY:

1. Please do not under any circumstances record (with your mobile) or screenshot the model, we welcome you to photograph, record and share your work on social media but please do not record their body out of respect for them, thank you! <3

2. We will be checking cameras throughout the session for security and safety reasons

Our sessions are inclusive and suitable for all abilities. Each pose is timed and called out before each pose.

What you'll need:

* Something to draw on and something to draw with! You can grab whatever is nearest at hand, pen and paper, ipad, envelopes, whatever floats your boat! Take a look at our instagram for more inspiration! @2bornot2bcollective

Is there a Recording?

It depends on the model and whether they would like to have their session recorded or not. Most sessions are recorded but not all! We usually edit the recordings after the session and then upload them to our Gumroad page where they are available for purchase for a minimum of 5GBP-7GBP depending on whether it is a tutored, untutored or HD version. Once purchased you can stream (no downloads) the replay as many times and whenever you like.

How do I attend your classes?

You need to book your place via our Eventbrite page:

Our classes take place online via Zoom. You will need to download and register with zoom before the session.

We will then send you a link to join the live class.

We send you the link to the class 1 hour before the class. If you have just found out about the session and it’s last minute, please contact us for the link and we can DM it to you directly.

If you cannot find them, please check your junk or promotions folders for Eventbrite emails from us.

I haven't received the link to the live zoom class, what should I do?

Please wait a day before your class to receive your link.

Check your junk/spam folder for an Eventbrite email from us.
