Experimental Life Drawing

They plan to facilitate an experimental life drawing workshop that challenges conventional environments in ways that heighten both vulnerability and tension. The workshop will involve working with a model who has never posed for life drawing before, positioned on a scaffold-like stage and surrounded by spatial design elements. The model’s poses will be structured around a sound piece currently in development, synchronised with intermittent strobe lighting. The room will remain dark, allowing artists to study the figure only during the strobe flashes. By increasing both the physical and perceptual distance between the model and the artists, and by distorting the perception of the figure through set, sound, and lighting, the workshop aims to encourage artists to expand their perception beyond the physical form.
