Description

Join us for this one day experimental printmaking workshop where you will create your own unique artwork.

Participants will use the idea of 'pathetic fallacy' to create their own visual responses to a piece of writing using printmaking. Starting with a descriptive text, we will experiment with several printing processes to explore how we choose to visualise the natural environment.

We will start by briefly discussing the idea of 'pathetic fallacy' in literature and then take our printing plates outside to draw in Piet Oudolf’s garden at Hauser & Wirth Somerset. We will combine printmaking processes (drypoint, monotype, monoprint and letterpress) to create multiple prints that explore mark-making, texture, found materials and wooden letter blocks.

You will leave with unique pieces of artwork that capture emotional descriptions or explore ambiguity in nature.

This course is suitable for all abilities. A variety of texts will be provided but participants are welcome to bring along their own material to work from.
