Adam Knoche will lead a two day workshop focusing on hand building along with creating surface and clay body inclusions. Participants will learn about creating depth, vibrancy, surface texture, and chemistry while creating their own work.
Adam will be demonstrating his uniques approach and techniques in clay. Students will be given hands on instruction and demonstrations to allow for freedom of creativity in their own ceramic art while implementing techniques being taught.
Workshop Overview
Techniques taught
Clay preparation techniques being taught will include clay additives, naked clays, dry glazing, and dry clay forming.
Wet techniques will include slip applications, colorant inclusions, over and under glazing along with making plaster/silica molds.
Hand building techniques will range from pinch, coil building large forms, and ram pressing.
Teaching method
Further to the technical instruction, Adam Knoche will also discuss his experiences and knowledge in clay. Adam will illustrate his journey and how he arrived at his current aesthetic. His teaching method is direct instruction and student focused education. Therefore, participants will discover new approaches to clay and gain insight into a new and contemporary aesthetic.
