Launching the new Northstowe Art Show with this fantastic free drawing workshop to get your creative juices flowing! Welcome to Experimenting with Ink and Nature!
Join the fabulous Ali Chappell-Bates at the Northstowe Interim Community Centre (The Cabin) for a fun and creative event where we will explore the beauty of nature through ink art. Discover new ways to add textural detail and movement to your drawings. Have some fun with experimental markmaking, combining inks with natural tools and brushes to create striking botanical images.
This hands-on workshop is perfect for complete beginners and more experienced creators, nature lovers and art enthusiasts alike. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with nature in a whole new way! See you there!
Please wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting messy.
You'll be working on large sheets of paper and experimenting with other papers such as package paper, pastel paper, blotting paper, etc. and this can be in a variety of sizes. Feel free to bring anything you think could be fun to try.

This summer, Northstowe Arts is partnering with South Cambridgeshire District Council to run a brand new community art exhibition, and it’s open to everyone.
You don’t have to be a professional or even think of yourself as an artist. If you’ve ever doodled, painted, crafted, taken photos, or made something creative at home, this is for you.
We’re kicking things off with this free drawing workshop, and there’ll be friendly advice sessions to help people prepare their work and understand how exhibitions work.
Then in September, we’ll hold the exhibition at The Cabin, where selected pieces will be on display for the community to come and enjoy.
The whole idea is to build confidence and help people take a first step, and if they enjoy it, we’ll also be sharing advice on how they can keep going, or even start showing their work elsewhere in future.
It’s free to take part, it’s designed to be inclusive and low-pressure, and it’s open to absolutely anyone who wants to have a go.
This project is supported by the Homes England Community Activation Fund which is administered by South Cambridgeshire District Council. Our aim is to make creativity accessible for everyone, whether you’ve never done anything like this before or you’re just getting back into it.
