We are delighted to bring you a presentation from Dr Nina Fuller-Shavel, she is hugely passionate about the role of Integrative Medicine and Precision Health in regaining and maintaining our health and wellbeing, having seen its effects during her own breast cancer diagnosis.
Integrative oncology (IO) is a patient-centred, evidence-informed field of cancer care that intelligently combines psychological, nutritional, lifestyle and complementary interventions alongside conventional cancer treatments.
Integrative oncology aims to support better quality of life, improve resilience, minimise the side effects of treatment and improve outcomes. At Synthesis Clinic our approach to integrative oncology involves a doctor-led multidisciplinary team, delivering award-winning personalised care for adults affected by cancer throughout the UK.
Dr Nina will give a broad talk on integrative oncology. Her passion lies in combining extensive scientific and medical understanding and precision health testing with a whole person approach to create a precisely tailored health plan drawing on a broad range of therapeutic interventions. She believes that our current healthcare system, while often life-saving, is not life-optimising, and is rarely able to deliver whole person care for prevention and management of complex, chronic disease, including cancer.
As a doctor providing integrative, personalised care to support people with cancer and other complex illness, she can see the transformative impact of this approach on personal resilience, quality of life and clinical outcomes every day.
Dr Nina Fuller-Shavel is the Clinic Director and Head of Integrative Cancer Care at Synthesis Clinic, Reading.
The event will be online so please book so that you receive the link in plenty of time.

She is an award-winning Oxbridge-trained integrative medicine doctor, scientist and educator with over a decade’s experience in integrative healthcare. She's a Fellow the College of Medicine, the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) and the Royal Society of Arts (RSA), and I was the 2021-2023 Co-Chair of BSIO (British Society for Integrative Oncology).

I integrate and draw upon this extensive knowledge and clinical toolkit every day in my practice.
As the clinic Director, I am hugely passionate about the role of Integrative Medicine and Precision Health in regaining and maintaining our health and wellbeing, having seen its effects during my own breast cancer diagnosis and the profound impact this approach has on the lives of my patients in clinic."
What to expect...
Cancer and its treatments affect multiple bodily systems, this is an opportunity to find out about integrative care, an approach that takes the systems biology view of cancer and cancer hallmarks, while applying the whole person perspective and treating the ecosystem as a whole.
A Q&A session will follow - please have them ready if you have any particular questions beforehand. We will record the event.
