About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 15 minutes

Join the Yorkshire Cyber Security Cluster, in collaboration with BCS West Yorkshire, for an evening of practical cyber security insights from experienced industry professionals. You’ll hear from Fabien Bourdaire, a seasoned incident responder with over 20 years in the field, who will walk through a real-world breach caused by a common Microsoft IIS misconfiguration, highlighting overlooked risks, insider threats, and attacks that leave little forensic evidence.

Dr John Haggerty from Sheffield Hallam University will introduce his work on using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) AI to improve information security management, showing how AI can be made more reliable when grounded in trusted frameworks like NIST and ISO 27001. We’ll also hear from Daniel Toms chair at BCS West Yorkshire about how BCS supports professionals and the regional cyber community.

Expect engaging technical talks, real-world case studies, and useful takeaways for improving your organisation’s cyber security. Whether you’re a practitioner, student, or manager, this is a great opportunity to network, learn from experts, and stay informed about both emerging threats and practical solutions.

Who should attend?
This event is ideal for cyber security professionals, IT managers, incident responders, developers, academics, students, and anyone with an interest in cyber risk, AI in security, or strengthening their organisation’s defences.
