To celebrate the new exhibition Making the Invisible Visible at the Ocean Explorer Visitor Centre, join artist and UHI lecturer Rosie Newman for a creative and educational journey where nature meets art.

First we will forage along the shoreline, discovering the unique forms and textures of seaweeds and coastal plants. We’ll be joined by algae expert Dr Francisca Vermeulen and other marine biologists from SAMS to learn together while we explore.

We will then experiment with cyanotype printing, collage, and painting to create a series of beautiful nature-inspired artworks.

The workshop will conclude with assembling our own handcrafted booklets, a personal keepsake capturing the essence of the coast.

Please bring Wellies - and waterproofs if it looks rainy. Wear clothes that can get paint on it.

No experience needed. All materials provided. Everyone welcome.

Participation is free. Those who can afford to are encouraged to leave a cash donation at the event. We suggest a donation of £20-30 to cover travel and material supply costs.
