Event description

Description

Charles Dickens often roamed the capital’s streets where the sights, sounds and people provided great inspiration for his writings.

On this entertaining walking tour we will follow his footsteps, visiting locations that feature in his life and literary works. You will be guided through places that Dickens and his characters knew well - atmospheric alleyways, hidden courtyards and a splendid classical square.

We will track his transformation from child labourer to literary superstar, and along the way you will discover fascinating facts and long-kept secrets that shaped the life of one of England's greatest novelists and social commentators.

Highlights:

  • See the gentlemen's club where Dickens had to defend his honour!
  • Discover the site of the factory where young Dickens worked
  • Visit the place that inspired Scrooge’s door knocker
  • See one of Dickens’ favourite restaurants and a quaint tavern he frequented.

90 minute walking tour with accredited London guide.

Advance bookings only.
