The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the world's biggest performing arts festival... with more than 2,000 shows a day during almost the entire month of August. If you've not been before, it can be difficult to know where to start.
So we invite you to come out with us for an evening exploring the Fringe with us and some of our members.
During the evening we'll:
- See some of the best, weirdest shows we could find
- Drop by some of our favourite subterranean, haunted pubs
- Have at least one visceral arthouse immersive experience
- Take in street performers on the Royal Mile
- Try some of the iconic foodstuffs for which Edinburgh is known
- Optionally stay up until 01:00 for some really weird free shows
We're the International Ghost Society - Edinburgh's most eclectic historical society. We're local to Edinburgh and have been going to (and sometimes even performing at) the Fringe for nearly ten years now. We know the city pretty well, and we love sharing it with people!
Our preference is for shows that are weird, experimental, anarchic and fun - all things that characterise the Festival. We're less interested in high-profile comics who you can see on television, or straightforward theatre shows that you can see elsewhere throughout the year.
You'll be part of a very small group of like-minded people, all of whom are up for exploring, experiencing, and getting the most out of the Fringe.
PS: Our starting location is the live music bar Whistlebinkies on South Bridge. You'll find us in one of the "caves" at the very back of the venue. Look out for a friendly ghost on our table!
