Join us for a unique opportunity to explore the Immersive Visualisation and Simulation Lab (IVSL) at Norwich University of the Arts, hosted by Bernie Williams, Ecosystem Innovation & Growth Specialist at Innovate UK Business Growth.

This in-person session includes lab demonstrations, networking, and discussions around collaboration opportunities.

About the IVSL

The IVSL is a cutting-edge facility for the development and application of next-generation immersive media and simulation. Located at Norwich University of the Arts’ Havers Road site, the lab currently supports funded work exploring climate futures, virtual heritage, spatial computing, applied games, and practice-based technology innovation for cultural organisations.

The Immersive Visualisation and Simulation Lab (IVSL) has been funded through the UKRI | AHRC Creative Research Capabilities (CResCa) world-class labs scheme.

The IVSL features:

· 4D Holosys Volumetric Capture System

· 360 LED screen (10m x 4m, 16Kx2K)

· 32.4 Multi-channel immersive audio

· Dolby Atmos sound studio


Virtual Production Studio

The university's Havers Road building is also home to a virtual production studio with a 9m x 4m wall. The studio enables the seamless integration of physical and digital elements for cinematic-quality outputs.


Immersive technology in business

The blend of advanced technologies makes the Immersive Visualisation and Simulation Lab a versatile resource across the creative industries including film & television; gaming and interactive media; advertising and marketing; education and training; live arts and performance events.

Some examples of what is possible through the technology:

· Advanced screen technology, including virtual production

· Asset capture – ways of placing virtually captured physical things in CG environments

· 360 moving image creation – at high resolution

· Experience virtual environments running in game engines

· New ways to experience heritage sites and archives

· Convergence of creative disciplines to explore new ways of seeing, experiencing and making


About the hosts

Prof Kirk Woolford is the founding director of the Institute for Creative Technologies at Norwich University of the Arts.
