Working in a process group offers a very special opportunity to explore your relationships and patterns in those relationships. You can experiment with a new way of being, set boundaries and explore your emotions.
Limited to 12 people, our process group is for newly qualified therapists and counsellors who are 0-3 years post qualification. This means all participants will have some experience of group work and recognise the need for a support network.
Our process group offers a safe space in which you will benefit from warmth and connection and learn to deal with conflict and difference in a healthy way. It will also provide the potential for peer support in a profesional environment in which many work independently. At the end of each session we also provide a perspective on the process playing out, offering a very valuable learning experience.
The process group is taking place on Thursday evenings (6.30pm to 9pm) over six weeks:
- 25 Setpember
- 2 October
- 9 October
- 23 October
- 30 October
- 6 November
To provide the safety of a closed group, we ask participants to attend all six sessions.
The process group is run by Isobel Collins and Cathy Connan. Isobel and Cathy are UKCP-accredited psychotherapists and supervisors, working in private practice in Kenilworth and Meriden.
Frequently asked questions
We define a process group as a small group of people who come together to explore and evolve their relational patterns, which comprise their thoughts, feeling and behaviours, with the support of psychotherapists. The group also has the potential to repair the impact of past relational difficulties.
It enables a deeper understanding of yourself, fosters connection with the other members and provides the space to experiment with a new way of being. Missing a session changes the dynamic, making it harder for you to get the support you need and benefit from the opportunities of the group.
A warm welcome. You will be invited to participate, but there will be no pressure to do so. We will set the scene and facilitate communication within the group, as well as providing one on one support within the group setting, if appropriate.
We will finish each session with a brief overview of our perspective of the process that has been playing in the group. Our aim is to offer insight and understanding that may help as you reflect upon the group, your experience and your engagement.
Arriving late or leaving early will disrupt the dynamic of the group. We ask all participants to arrive and depart on time. If it is unavoidable, we ask you to notify the group in advance.
Yes. You can count your participation towards your CPD requirement as this relates directly to your professional development.
