Event description

Description

Join us for an evening of talks and activities to launch our exhibition on the health care of older people throughout history. Longer life expectancies change how we view work, retirement, relationships and our health. In these later years, some of us will need more support than others, whether from friends and family or nurses, health care support workers and social care workers. Talks (from 5.30pm) include Yvonne Manson RCNi Leadership Award winner on innovations in care home nursing and Professor Jan Dewing, Sue Pembrey Chair in Nursing and Director of The Centre for Person-centred Practice Research at Queen Margaret University. You can also experiment with vision impairment activities with Royal Blind, pimp a zimmer frame and view our exhibition. Refreshments provided.

Accessibility

The venue is fully wheelchair accessible. There is a hearing loop in the lecture room. We can offer large print copies of presentations if requested at least a week before the event. Assistance dogs are welcome.

If you have any other needs, please email us at rcn.library@rcn.org.uk and we will assist you wherever possible. Advertised start times are when the doors open. Talks usually begin 30 minutes later. Check back nearer the time for the full programme. Where possible, we film events and put them up online. Check our website for footage of past events.
