Content

In the past, it has been believed that autistic people don't want romantic relationships. This is a myth. Many autistic people do want romantic relationships but can experience challenges in developing and maintaining them and may hold different perspectives on romantic relationships.

In this webinar, we will present recent research that explores the ways couples maintain and understand their relationship when one partner is autistic and the other is non-autistic.
The webinar will include two presentations of recent research, a discussion between the two researchers, and plenty of time for questions. We hope to learn from our listeners' thoughts and ideas about this topic.

Speakers

Vivien Southall is a Doctoral student at Plymouth University and her narrative study considered the understandings that people drew on in forming and developing their long-term romantic relationships.

Hayley Green, a research assistant at Autistica, will discuss the research conducted as part of her master's degree - exploring how couples maintain their romantic relationships considering the strengths of both partners, the challenges they face and their emotional well-being.
