In celebration of Black History Month, the university welcomes author and historian Dr Madge Dresser, Associate Professor at the Universty of the West of England, whose primary areas of research embrace identity and ethnic and religious minorities in society.
The event is organised together with Black History Month Cheltenham, a partnership between Cheltenham Borough Council, the African Community Foundation, and Cheltenham West End Partnership.
Dr Dresser, a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, has been involved in a range of BBC television and radio programmes, and has spoken at venues including Tate Britain and Bristol’s Watershed. Her publications include Slavery and West Country Houses, and Women in Bristol, 1373-1660.
She will be introduced by Dr Christian O’Connell, author and Senior Lecturer in American History at the University of Gloucestershire.
