Event description

Description

Regardless of market sector or size, 2017 has seen Economic and Political uncertainty. The current period of Brexit negotiations is creating uncertainty or perhaps even opportunities for many businesses and organisations. There is no doubt we are living in Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous times.

However, unless businesses are pro-actively identifying both risks and opportunities and planning strategies to manage these, momentum will not be created.

We cannot predict the future, but we aim to provide you with an understanding of potential risks and opportunities and to equip you to better manage turbulent environments through speed, agility and flexibility.

  • VISION - The need to look further than the current uncertainty and have a clear vision for the future.
  • UNDERSTANDING - Aligning the organisation to the vision, with in depth understanding of an organisation’s capabilities, playing to strengths and minimising weaknesses
  • COURAGE - Organisations cannot afford to keep their heads down. This is not a time for using traditional management techniques and avoiding management risks.
  • ADAPTABILITY - Flexible tactics are required for rapid adaption of long term vision and strategies.

We will explain the steps towards managing and governing uncertainty to deliver good governance and create opportunities in a challenging environment and provide an opportunity for you to network and develop strategies for business across Staffordshire.

The seminar will be hosted by professor Garry Honey, founder of Chiron Risk, who is interested in how organisations treat risk as a future uncertainty and opportunity in strategic decision making, as opposed to seeing risk as a threat mitigating control function. Garry will be joined by representatives from the Department of International Trade, Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce and Colin Russell, Director of Russel Business Services Ltd, who provide practical help and support to organisations looking to improve performance through internationalisation and change.

Join us for Breakfast on the 9th November at 8 am to 11 am.
