About this event

Early Years Music Scotland is delivering a year-long programme of free, high-quality, creative and inspiring continuous professional learning and development for musicians working with children in the early years across Scotland, supported by Creative Scotland's Youth Music Initiative.

This workshop is free-of-charge to musicians who are resident in Scotland and working with children in the early years (0-5yrs). Non-Scottish residents and non-musicians may purchase a ticket.

Connecting with others is a key component in our work as music educators: with our pupils, with parents/carers, with colleagues, with venues... Inevitably, we will encounter moments of disagreement or discomfort in these meetings and this might lead to challenging conversations and decisions to be made. This workshop will offer a range of tools and insights from a World Café Host perspective to help shift how we hold ourselves and others. Bring your burning questions and challenges, and most importantly: an open mind.

This workshop will be delivered by Dorothee Nys. Dorothee is a recent BEd (Music) graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, with expertise in choral conducting and inclusive music practice. She has international music teaching experience working across primary and secondary schools in Belgium, the Netherlands, Zimbabwe and Scotland. Besides her freelance work in the areas of music and teaching, she is also a trained facilitator as a World Café Host. She has successfully brought these fields together through incorporating World Café principles into her planning and hosting several World Café's for the organisations she works for.
