Event description

Description

An adult morning class brought to you by Lifelong Learning Dundee.

Tutor: Rachel Marsh

Number of weeks: 5

This five-week course is an extension of the previous ‘Exploring Genre Literature’ course but is open to all students, and attendance at the first series is not necessary. We will explore how ‘genre’ can influence tone, character, and narrative within fiction. We will look at a number of different genres including Science Fiction, Environmental/Dystopian Fiction, Fantasy, Romance, and Magical Realism. However, this class will take a malleable approach to its syllabus, and topics can change based on student suggestions. The class will use short fiction and film to illustrate examples and will be a mixture of lecture and lively discussion, with student interests leading the direction of the conversation.
