Exploring Mindful self-compassion (Fitting your own oxygen mask)
Event Information
Description
The Education Department’s Primary Mental Health Team and Jersey Library have joined forces to put on summer workshops for parents this year for the first time. The events during the holidays are designed to help mums, dads and carers to learn new skills that will help with parenting and family life.
Most people are more compassionate towards others than they are to themselves, especially if they are busy parents. However, looking after oneself ultimately helps us to look after others better. This is called ‘self-compassion’ and it is linked with better wellbeing, less depression, less stress and reduced anxiety. This workshop introduces the concept through short exercises and meditations and is facilitated by an accredited and experienced Mindfulness Practitioner who is a member of The Primary Mental Health Team.
The workshop is free and open to any adult supporting the care of a child/young person. Booking essential.
