Event description

Description

Victoria Park has been the heart of Leicester's community scene for decades now, hosting major events, from the annual Caribbean Carnival in the summer, to one offs like the Premier League Victory concert by Kasabian in 2016. But how much do you really know about its history and what it meant for previous generations? Come along to enjoy this beautiful park in early summer and learn all about its heritage.

The walk will begin at 10.30am and we will meet outside De Montfort Hall. Our fantastic blue badge guide will lead you on a one hour exploration of one of Leicester's favourite parks. As this is the last Story of Parks walk, we will finish at the park pavilion for some lovely refreshments to celebrate!

This fascinating free walk is a collaboration between Story of Parks and Choose How You Move. Story of Parks is a Heritage Lottery Funded project all about encouraging the community to learn about the heritage of Leicester's parks. Choose How You Move encourages people to get out on foot to discover Leicester and become familiar with its many walking routes. The project provides group walks in the city, which are open to all. Walks are assisted by our friendly volunteers.
